Mission Statement: |
Parent Express newspaper of Windham and Cheshire counties was founded by two local mothers with young families. Identifying the need for a ‘clearinghouse’ of information on events, resources, services, and products related to local families and children, Julianne and Kate launched the paper in August 2002.
Since that first issue, local parents and caregivers have come to depend on Parent Express for relevant and timely information, ideas, and activities that connect them to their community. Today, 13,000 copies of Parent Express are distributed to more than 225 sites, with over 60 businesses promoting their products, services, and programs in our pages throughout the year. Parent Express also participates in numerous community events every year.
Meet the Editor
Nancy A. Cavanaugh lives in Keene with her daughter Caitlin and a bratty cat named Amber. When house hunting in the spring of 2005, Nancy, who was born and raised in the Lakes Region, picked up a copy of Parent Express to find out what was in the area for kids and families. That issue of Parent Express, especially the Calendar of Events, played an important part in her decision to focus on the Keene area. Nancy bought a home in Keene and they moved in over the summer.
Nancy got her start in publishing as a reporter for The South Bergenite, a weekly newspaper located in Rutherford, NJ. While there she briefly filled in as the Sports Editor. From there she became the editor of the Glen Ridge Voice, a weekly newspaper covering Glen Ridge, NJ and was there for several months before switching to production. More recently Nancy was the calendar editor at Big Apple Parents, a monthly parenting paper in New York City, and editor of Fandangle Magazine, an online magazine for children. Nancy also works as a freelance web site designer, graphic artist and writer.
